Job Purpose
The Librarian will manage and nurture a vibrant, student-centred library environment that inspires curiosity, supports academic excellence, and cultivates a love for reading and research. The role involves guiding students across age groups in using library resources effectively, supporting inquiry-based learning, and maintaining an organized, engaging, and future-ready library space.

Note:

The role includes supporting designated student groups as per school requirements.

Key Responsibilities  Library Management & Resource Development   Curate, organize, and maintain print and digital collections aligned with curriculum needs and student interests.
Ensure timely cataloguing, shelving, and circulation of books and resources.
Maintain an inviting, safe, and age-appropriate library environment for all students.
Identify opportunities to expand the collection through new titles, digital tools, and multimedia resources.
Student Learning & Engagement   Conduct regular library sessions that promote reading, research skills, and responsible use of information.
Support inquiry-based and interdisciplinary learning across grade levels.
Guide students in locating, evaluating, and using information ethically.
Recommend age-appropriate and interest-based reading material to learners.
Collaboration & Curriculum Support   Partner with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom learning.
Support project-based learning, exhibitions, and research assignments.
Provide resources aligned with international curriculum frameworks and school academic goals.
Events & Reading Culture   Organize book fairs, author visits, reading challenges, and literary events to foster a culture of reading.
Encourage students’ participation in library clubs, storytelling sessions, and skill-building workshops.
Promote library initiatives through newsletters, display boards, and school communication channels.
Technology & Digital Literacy   Manage digital library systems, databases, and online resources.
Teach students basic digital literacy, research tools, and safe online practices.
Support integration of technology in accessing information and resources.
Administration & Reporting   Maintain accurate records of library usage, inventory, and circulation.
Prepare periodic reports and recommendations for resource development.
Ensure adherence to library policies, budget planning, and procurement processes.
Qualifications   Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science (mandatory).
Training or experience in school libraries, educational settings, or international curricula preferred.
Familiarity with digital library platforms and cataloguing systems.
Experience   Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a Librarian, preferably in a school or academic institution.
Experience supporting inquiry programs or international/IB curricula is an advantage.
Skills & Attributes   Strong organizational and cataloguing skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children and young adults.
Passion for reading, literature, and creating meaningful learning experiences.
Ability to manage a dynamic library space with creativity and discipline.
Commitment to fostering curiosity, independence, and lifelong learning.
