Job Purpose:

To deliver engaging and rigorous Korean language instruction at both the IGCSE and IBDP levels, developing learners’ language proficiency, critical thinking, and appreciation of Korean literature and culture, in alignment with the Cambridge and IB frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

Teaching & Learning   Plan and deliver differentiated lessons for Korean First or Second Language (IGCSE) and Korean Language A:
Language and Literature (IBDP).
Promote inquiry-based learning through literary and non-literary texts.
Encourage students to explore Korean language and culture in global and personal contexts.
Use a variety of teaching strategies and digital tools to meet diverse learning needs.
Assessment & Reporting   Design assessments aligned with IGCSE and IB criteria.
Provide timely, constructive feedback to support progress.
Maintain accurate student records and contribute to progress reports.
Curriculum Development   Develop and refine Korean curriculum content in line with Cambridge and IB requirements.
Select appropriate texts and resources that reflect both traditional and contemporary Korean perspectives.
Incorporate interdisciplinary and international-mindedness into planning.
Pastoral & Administrative Duties   Support student well-being and contribute to school events and activities.
Communicate regularly with parents and colleagues regarding student progress.
Complete all administrative tasks including documentation, report writing, and exam preparation.
Professional Development   Stay updated on developments in IGCSE and IB Korean teaching.
Participate in school-led and external professional development opportunities.
Qualifications   Master’s degree in Korean Language, Literature, or Education.
B.Ed or equivalent teaching qualification.
IB and/or Cambridge training (preferred or willingness to obtain).
Experience   Minimum 2–3 years of teaching Korean at the IGCSE and/or IBDP level.
Familiarity with IBDP Language A assessments (e.g., IO, HL Essay, Paper 1 &
2).
Skills & Attributes   Strong subject knowledge and passion for Korean language and literature.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Commitment to international education and inquiry-based learning.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse faculty team.
