Position: QA Automation Engineer
About the Role
We’re hiring a QA Automation Engineer to own quality for a modern full-stack web platform built with Next.js 15, Type Script, and Payload CMS. The product includes multi-step checkout journeys, third-party API integrations, payment processing via PCI-compliant hosted (iframe-based) flows, and a CMS-driven content layer. You will be responsible for end-to-end quality—automation strategy, E2E/API testing, and ensuring CI pipelines reliably gate releases.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the test automation strategy and maintain robust test suites using Playwright (E2E, visual regression) and Jest (unit/integration).
- Build API test coverage and validate critical integrations with third-party services.
- Ensure cross-browser and responsive behavior across Chromium, Firefox, Web Kit, and mobile viewports.
- Validate complex multi-step form flows with both client-side and server-side validation.
- Test payment flows (tokenization/hosted fields) and verify reliability across edge cases and retries.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD quality gates in Git Hub Actions; ensure stable reporting and fast feedback loops.
- Validate CMS workflows (publication approvals, live preview, redirects, SEO metadata, forms).
- Convert production issues from observability/session-replay tools into actionable, reproducible test cases.
- Verify analytics/event instrumentation across key user journeys (conversion, drop-off, errors).
- Collaborate with engineering to improve testability, data integrity, and release quality; mentor best practices where needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of QA experience with strong test automation ownership.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright or Cypress (E2E + visual regression).
- Strong Type Script/JavaScript skills in a modern Node.js ecosystem.
- Experience testing REST APIs (Postman/Insomnia + programmatic tests using supertest/Playwright API).
- Familiarity with Next.js/React applications (SSR/ISR, App Router patterns).
- Working knowledge of CI/CD with Git Hub Actions and test gating.
- Experience validating data using Postgre
SQL queries.
- Strong understanding of cross-browser, responsive testing, and high-quality bug reporting.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Payload CMS or other headless CMS platforms.
- Exposure to Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, or design system/component testing.
- Familiarity with Docker, Vercel, preview deployments, and environment-based testing.
- Experience with observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Log Rocket) and debugging production issues.
- Experience with accessibility (axe-core) and performance testing (Lighthouse/Core Web Vitals).
