Purpose:
The Associate Manager – Data Engineering is responsible for setting and maintaining the Majid Al Futtaim Retail Digital analytics Data warehouse to support the business on automating the generation of analytics insights, and managing and owning the full data system, handling data sources while ensuring data quality and enrichment. The role holder is also responsible for contributing to the driving of the analytics strategy and optimizations to directly/ indirectly impact critical business.
The Associate Manager – Data Engineering is also responsible for managing external relationships with service providers, negotiating services, managing budget and payment terms.
He/she will be playing a critical role by managing and influencing senior stakeholders & analytics functional leaders across Carrefour, including but not limited to;
Leadership teams, Finance, Marketplace, Customer Experience, AdTech, and eB2B teams towards a unified vision to drive an impactful data culture and successfully contribute towards a stronger analytics CoE.
Role Details
– Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Data Collection & Enrichment
Design framework to collect enterprise data from multiple source systems like realtime, batch and API based into the data lake
Design framework for enrichment, consumption and reporting layer
Build processes to monitor and maintain the data lake; monitor the performance and usage of the data lake and perform regular maintenance, including backups and updates to ensure its continued reliability and scalability
Ensure data enrichment by adding additional information to existing data to increase the accuracy, relevance, or value of the data, making it more useful for analysis or decision-making
Data Quality & Governance
Ensure data quality and security; implement and maintain policies and procedures for ensuring the accuracy, privacy, and security of the organization's data
Assign ownership of data assets to specific individuals or teams to ensure accountability for data quality and usage
Provide data education and training to employees on the importance of data governance and how to comply with the organization's data policies and standards
Secure the data lake by implementing security measures to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of the data stored in the data lake, such as access controls, encryption, and data masking
Data Democratization
Partner with stakeholders by working closely with business leaders, Analytics, Data Science, IT function, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure that data is being used to support their initiatives
Develop Data Sharing Platform/framework for sharing data internally with internal stakeholders from different entities and with external vendors for analytics, forecast and monetization
Vendor Management
Evaluate available options and choose a vendor that can provide the necessary infrastructure, tools, and services
Lead activities such as negotiating contracts, setting up service level agreements (SLAs), and ensuring the vendor's solution meets the organization's technical and business requirements
Ensure effective data lake vendor management with ongoing communication and collaboration between the vendor and the organization to ensure the solution is meeting the evolving needs of the business
Coordination and Communication
Collaborate with MAF Retail Country teams and other senior stakeholders, to provide them with regular updates on analytics, forecast and monetization etc to deliver on the business objectives
Build relationships and maintain strong partnerships with key personnel to help achieve organisational goals
Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the Digital Analytics function
Audit and Reporting
Support on the preparation of business presentations and reports related to Digital Analytics function for various stakeholders, on periodic and ad hoc basis as and when required
Perform regular audit of various processes and databases for the Digital Analytics function in order to identify gaps and risks, and propose corrective actions
