The Role:

Director, Data Governance and Strategy
The Data Strategy and Governance Lead will oversee the development and implementation of data management frameworks and strategies that ensure the effective management and utilization of data across the organization. This role will focus on establishing policies, procedures, and best practices that enhance data quality, compliance, and accessibility, while fostering a data-driven culture. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for developing and communicating strategic roadmaps to business stakeholders and enhancing the overall culture around data governance and strategy.

We are looking for a candidate who is genuinely passionate about data governance and strategy, and who can inspire others in this space.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a data governance strategy that aligns with organizational goals and promotes data stewardship.
Develop and communicate strategic roadmaps for data initiatives to business stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
Establish policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Collaborate with business units to identify data governance needs and implement solutions that enhance data usage.
Work closely with the Data Architect to optimize data performance and ensure efficient data management practices.
Own and maintain Data Lineage documentation to provide clarity on data flow and transformations across the organization.
Enhance the culture around data governance and strategy by promoting awareness, best practices, and the value of data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
Foster a passion for data governance and strategy within the team and across the organization, inspiring colleagues to embrace data as a strategic asset.
Monitor data management practices across the organization, recommending improvements to ensure adherence to governance standards.
Lead initiatives to educate and train employees on data governance policies and best practices.
Analyze data governance metrics and provide insights to inform strategic decision-making.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in data governance and strategy.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field;
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.
Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality management, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent analytical skills and experience with data analytics tools.
Proven ability to communicate data concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong leadership and project management skills.
A genuine passion for data governance and strategy, with a desire to inspire others.
Preferred

Skills:

Experience with data governance frameworks and tools.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Certification in data governance or related fields (e.g., CDMP, DGSP)
