Job Description & How to Apply Below
Charuvi Design Labs (CDL) is a storytelling-led studio where animation, design, space, and technology come together. We build immersive experiences and spatial narratives - museum galleries, experience centres, visitor journeys, projection-led environments, and interactive storytelling spaces - crafted with cinematic sensibility and high attention to detail.

CDL is also known for premium animation storytelling: we are the co-creator of 'The Legend of Hanuman', an animated series that has become a cultural touchstone for audiences.
At CDL, design isn't decoration - it's narrative, emotion, and pacing in real space.

Role Overview
We are looking for an Exhibition Designer who can translate story and intent into clear layouts, compelling spatial moments, and buildable design. You'll collaborate closely with creative direction, production, and technical teams to take projects from concept to execution - ensuring the final experience feels immersive, intuitive, and impactful.
This role is ideal for someone who thinks like a designer and delivers like a maker—strong on storytelling, practical on fabrication, and comfortable working with technology-led experiences.

Key Responsibilities
Experience concept and spatial storytelling
Develop concepts aligned with narrative, brand, and audience goals
Translate story beats into spatial moments: entry  build-up  highlight  resolution  exit
Create mood boards, design directions, material sensibilities, and experience narratives
Layouts, circulation and visitor journey
Create architectural layouts and spatial plans: zoning, circulation, queue logic, accessibility, sightlines and pause points
Plan how visitors move, feel, and discover content in the space
Design development and detailing
Design environmental elements: set pieces, graphic zones, signage logic, interactive stations, display systems, and key hero moments
Develop material/finish directions and detailing that hold up at real-world scale
Ensure design consistency across touchpoints (graphics, objects, media, lighting intent)
Technology and new media integration
Coordinate with internal teams and tech partners to integrate new media: interactive displays, sensors, real-time visuals, projections, soundscapes, and lighting intent
Support content placement planning for screens/projection surfaces and interactive nodes within the spatial design
Collaborate to ensure media-tech integration is feasible, robust, and aligned with the visitor journey
Production, budgets and vendor coordination
Work with budgets and production constraints from early stages—design within practical ranges
Coordinate with fabricators and vendors: brief clearly, evaluate estimates, manage iterations, and maintain quality
Support on-ground execution with production drawings and installation detailing as needed
Documentation and handover
Prepare clear documentation for execution: plans, elevations, sections, basic detailing, material specs, and 3D views/renders
Maintain version control and crisp handovers across internal and external teams

Requirements (Must-have)
3–8 years of relevant experience in exhibition / experiential / spatial design / museum / visitor experience / retail or brand environments
Strong architectural layout understanding and ability to create layouts (visitor circulation, zoning, scale planning, sightlines)
Experience working with vendors/fabricators and comfort handling budgets, cost trade-offs, and build constraints
Strong visual sensibility: composition, hierarchy, storytelling, and attention to detail
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up and Adobe Suite (or equivalent workflow)
Comfort working with technology-led spaces and coordinating for interactive/new media integration

Added Advantage (Good to have)
3D knowledge: ability to visualize and communicate space through 3D views, model mockups, or renders
Exposure to interactive media / new media pipelines (real-time, sensors, projections, interactive systems)
Touch Designer know-how is a strong plus
Experience integrating media elements (projection/screen zones, lighting intent, sound) into spatial design

Educational Qualifications
Degree/Diploma from a recognized design school in Exhibition Design / Spatial Design / Interior Design / Industrial Design / Communication Design (or related design discipline). Portfolio strength can outweigh formal qualification if the work is exceptional.
