Role Description The Consultant Gastroenterology role is a full-time, on-site position based at Accord Superspeciality Hospital in Faridabad. The consultant will provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients with gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreatic conditions, including outpatient consultations, inpatient care, endoscopic procedures, and emergency management. Daily responsibilities include assessing patients, ordering and interpreting investigations, planning treatment, performing procedures such as upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams for complex cases.
The role involves supervising junior medical staff, participating in clinical case discussions, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring adherence to hospital protocols and clinical governance standards. The consultant is also expected to contribute to quality improvement initiatives, patient education, and, where applicable, teaching and training activities within the department.
Qualifications
Advanced medical qualification in Gastroenterology (e.g., DM/DNB in Gastroenterology or equivalent), with valid medical registration as per Indian regulatory requirements.
Proven clinical expertise in diagnosing and managing a broad range of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, including acute and chronic conditions.
Proficiency in endoscopic procedures (e.g., upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy), with experience in therapeutic interventions such as polypectomy and GI bleeding management.
Strong skills in clinical decision-making, evidence-based practice, and interpretation of diagnostic tests (imaging, endoscopy, pathology, and laboratory results).
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams, with a patient-centered and ethical approach to care.
Ability to work in a technology-enabled, data-driven environment, comfortable with hospital information systems and digital medical records.
Experience in supervising junior doctors or trainees, with interest in teaching, mentoring, and continuous professional development.
Commitment to quality improvement, infection control, patient safety standards, and participation in clinical audits and accreditation processes.
Prior experience in a tertiary-care or superspeciality hospital setting is
