About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic  Senior Machinery Safety Advisor  to play a pivotal role in a historical infrastructure modernization initiative. This multi-year program focuses on the comprehensive renovation, replacement, and digital transformation of critical civil structures—specifically targeting major bridges, tunnels, and viaducts.

As a technical advisor, you will ensure optimal accessibility, safety, and operational excellence within the regional road and waterway network. Your focus will center on overseeing the overhaul of mechanical components, modernizing control and operating systems, and ensuring seamless integration with centralized monitoring and control hubs.

Role Objective & Key Deliverables

During the initial 12 months, you will collaborate closely with a contracted engineering firm to successfully finalize the critical  contract preparation phase . A core objective is ensuring the rigorous implementation of the latest updates and perspectives within the  Machinery Regulation  as they apply to heavy civil structures.

Primary Responsibilities:

Technical Validation:  Critically test, evaluate, and validate core safety deliverables including  machine limits , comprehensive  risk assessments (with mitigation measures) , and overarching  machine safety plans .

Regulatory Compliance:  Provide expert counsel on compliance with European and national laws, machinery regulations, and safety standards across complex industrial and infrastructural environments.

Risk Analysis & Mitigation:  Execute formal risk analyses during the commissioning, modification, or complete replacement of machinery, maintaining an uncompromising focus on environmental and human safety hazards.

Engineering Oversight:  Review, assess, and approve contractor designs and technical proposals with respect to machinery safety mechanics and  CE marking  requirements.

Cross-Functional Integration:  Collaborate actively with specialists in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Industrial Automation to forge integrated, multidisciplinary safety solutions.

Quality & Maintenance Verification:  Verify that ongoing inspections, modification, and maintenance activities align precisely with statutory safety thresholds and contractual agreements.

Procurement & Tendering Advisory:  Champion machinery safety mandates during the tendering and contract formation phases, establishing clear safety criteria for operational workflows.

Framework Standardization:  Actively contribute to improving technical frameworks, national standards, and operational guidelines.
