The Teacher is responsible for the physical, emotional, and developmental care and safety of the children enrolled in the CCLC, as well as for planning and executing an educational program aligned with the CCLC's philosophy and goals.
Responsibilities- Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn.
- Implement the Creative Curriculum tailored to each child's needs.
- Ensure children's safety by knowing their whereabouts and numbers.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Partner and communicate effectively with parents to provide the best care and education.
- Support play, exploration, and learning through interaction with children.
- Foster teamwork among staff and volunteers.
- Maintain written records such as attendance and developmental notes.
- Oversee assistants, aides, students, and volunteers in the classroom.
- Prepare and review performance evaluations for assistants.
- Conduct parent conferences and assessments of indoor/outdoor safety and appropriateness.
- Support policies, procedures, and standards of CCLC and HUMC.
- Prepare weekly activity outlines and participate in staff meetings and training.
- Build positive relationships with families, team members, and the community.
- Identify and modify care based on the needs of the population served, including communication with parents/caregivers at their level.
Required:
- Associate's degree in early childhood education, CDA, or group teacher approval from DCF.
- At least 3 years of experience teaching children under 5.
- Basic proficiency in computer use.
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field.
Regular contact with Medical Center personnel, parents, and visitors.
Working ConditionsMust be able to lift at least 15 lbs., push/pull 20 lbs., stand for at least 3 hours, and assume low postures for visual and physical contact with children. Adequate hearing and vision are required for safety.

Benefits include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement plans. Starting at $18.30/hour.
