The salary range for this position is $91,727.00 to $. Newly hired individuals will normally begin at the minimum of the range. For current Judiciary employees, promotion or advancement will result in an increase of 5% of base salary, up to the maximum of the range or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.
Job DescriptionThe Bergen Vicinage seeks a highly motivated professional with excellent leadership, conflict management and communication skills to serve as Assistant Civil Division Manager under the general direction of the Court Executive 2b (Civil Division Manager). The selected candidate will oversee the work of supervisors and staff across docket types in the day‑to‑day operations of case management and customer service teams, courtroom functions, and other division activities.

The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to two days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. Participation requires installation of a multi‑factor authentication app and high‑speed home internet access.
Responsibilities- Review court activities to ensure compliance with laws, court rules, and directives.
- Monitor work for completeness and accuracy.
- Consult and communicate with judges, chambers, divisional staff, attorneys, and court users.
- Participate in formulating and developing goals and objectives.
- Prepare, analyze, and present statistical reports.
- Offer suggestions and solutions regarding existing and anticipated challenges.
- Coordinate activities across stakeholders.
- Explain Judiciary policies and procedures to court users.
- Determine goals and objectives.
- Advise management on personnel issues.
- Conduct performance advisory meetings and prepare assessments.
- Mentor and coach staff.
- Recommend staff training, recognition, and/or discipline.
- Participate in recruitment and selection activities.
- Serve on committees and attend meetings.
- Perform other duties as required.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and three years of professional administrative experience, one of which shall have included experience in reviewing court activities for compliance with laws, court rules or administrative directives; consulting with judges, attorneys and law clerks; evaluating case management systems; coordinating activities between agencies, government and enforcement units; and/or preparing and analyzing case processing statistical reports.
Substitution
:
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional professional experience on a year‑for‑year basis (one year of experience = 30 semester hours). An associate's degree plus two years of additional professional experience may replace the bachelor's requirement. A master's degree or a law degree may also serve as substitutes for the specified experience.
Degrees conferred outside the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.
Additional InformationDriver's License: Appointee must possess a New Jersey driver’s license only if vehicle operation is necessary for essential duties.
Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the US under DHS regulations.
