OverviewHackensack Meridian Health (HMH) focuses on changing the lives of patients by providing the highest level of care across hospitals, rehabilitation centers, occupational health teams, long‑term care centers, and at‑home care capabilities. The Medical Secretary will support physicians, section chiefs, or a chairman in managing department organization and operations.
Responsibilities- Schedule appointments, meetings or conferences for departmental personnel using interdepartmental and hospital‑wide computerized scheduling systems.
- Enter inpatient and outpatient professional charges into the medical billing system.
- Compose and prepare correspondence.
- Transcribe patient information from written copy, electronic equipment or verbal direction using medical terminology.
- File reports, prepare documents, and forward correspondence.
- Prioritize calls through screening; transfer calls, record messages, and deliver to appropriate personnel.
- Review, screen, and distribute daily mail correspondence to appropriate personnel.
- Order office supplies and maintain inventory.
- Maintain up‑to‑date departmental manuals and files.
- Assistance in coordination of special projects.
- Adhere to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Associate's degree.
Minimum hourly rate: $21.40. Compensation is benchmarked against market data and may vary based on experience, education, skills, geographical location, internal equity, and budget.
