MRI Technologist – Full Time

OverviewAt Hackensack Meridian Health, we help patients live better and healthier lives. The MRI Technologist is responsible for producing diagnostic images using MRI technology to support patient care.
Responsibilities- Review patient charts and physician orders to determine optimal imaging parameters for suspected pathology.
- Select proper imaging coil for study.
- Perform imaging studies using proper scanning techniques and protocols.
- Work with physicians to optimize MRI sequences for highest quality images.
- Administer contrast media following department protocols.
- Verify pregnancy status when appropriate.
- Obtain MRI consent documentation when appropriate.
- Determine whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.
- Document diagnostic and patient data in the appropriate record.
- Perform post‑processing techniques to optimize imaging or study.
- Prepare sterile contrast media and other solutions following infection control guidelines.
- Administer emergency care including performing CPR.
- Perform MRI safety checks and screen patients for contraindications (e.g., foreign bodies, medical indications).
- Maintain scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
- Work overtime as needed to provide quality patient care.
- Serve on call assignments as required by hospital policy.
- Perform daily clerical duties using EMR, PACS, Teletracking System, and other computer systems.
- Greet all patients when they arrive for exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
- Adhere to policies of Employee , Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
- Maintain MRI safety zones at all times.
- Identify patient population needs and adapt care accordingly.
- Adhere to organizational competencies and behavioral standards.
- Perform specific daily and monthly quality assurance tasks.
- Carry out additional duties or projects as assigned.
- Lift at least 25 lbs., push and pull at least 50 lbs., and stand for a minimum of 6 hours a day.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Certificate of Completion/Degree from an accredited Radiography or MRI program.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google applications.
Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of one year of MRI experience.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT, MR) or ARMRIT within 9 months of entering position.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.
Starting at $45.94 hourly. Final compensation may vary based on market data, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, budgeting, and grant funding. Some positions may also be eligible for performance‑based incentives, bonuses, or commissions and shift differentials for evening, night, or weekend work.
