Cat Scan Technologist Job Description

The Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

• Performs complex CT procedures.
• Reviews and obtains patients' clinical histories for procedures, documenting into PACS.
• Prepares and screens contrast questionnaires with patients and/or family members.
• Administers contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed.
• Verifies appropriateness of exams with referring physicians and the Radiologist.
• Obtains outside studies and schedules them in EPIC for Radiologist comparison.
• Evaluates radiographs using PACS to ensure identification and diagnostic value.
• Prepares patients for scanning, ensuring their safety and comfort.
• Monitors patients for adverse reactions during procedures.
• Responsible for scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays.

• Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program with a High School diploma or equivalent.
• NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License and ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within three months of hire.
• Knowledge of anatomy, radiological positioning, and CT software/hardware.
• Maintains CEU Credits; ARRT (CT) certification must be achieved within twelve months of hire.
• Six months CT experience preferred; knowledge of Epic and HIS/RIS systems is a plus.

This position requires evening shifts from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The role is a 5x8 hour schedule, with every third weekend as well as holidays as needed.
