Direct Support Professional; DSP

Guided Steps NJ is currently interviewing for Direct Support Professional (DSP) position(s) in various counties.

The DSP will assist individuals with intellectual disabilities, in a one-on-one setting, to reach their individualized goals. Services can take place in the individual’s home or in the community. This position requires all candidates to have a working vehicle, up to date vehicle documents and a valid driver’s license. Use of personal vehicle required for community outings.

• Assist with daily living tasks such as hygiene, meal preparation, and transportation
• Provide direct support and assistance to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities
• Assist with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills
• Implement individualized care plans and document progress
• Assist with medication administration as needed
• Provide transportation to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities
• Foster a safe and supportive environment for individuals with disabilities

• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points
• Must have and maintain a reliable vehicle, valid auto registration and insurance
• Ability to pass State, Federal, and drug tests
• Completion of required DSP training
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a similar caregiving role
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate and patient demeanor
• CPR and first aid certification required
• Ability to lift/push/pull 30 lbs

• Experience with ABA-based interventions
• Data collection and reporting skills (Boggs Center PBIS training or equivalent training preferred)
