R&D Data & Systems Integration Consultant
We are seeking an experienced R&D Data & System Integration Consultant (full‑time (40‑hrs per week Mon‑Fri, 12‑month, 1099 contract position) to lead and support the integration of multiple R&D systems as part of a major organizational transformation.
This role will focus on harmonizing data structures, mapping legacy systems to new platforms, and integrating specification management systems into a unified R&D environment.
You will play a key role in defining integration strategies, designing scalable data pipelines, and transforming complex datasets into actionable insights through analytics and dashboards.
This position is ideal for a hands‑on professional who can work on a full‑time, 1099 contract basis, and combines strong data engineering expertise, system integration acumen, and experience managing enterprise R&D tools as a system business owner.
Key Responsibilities Include the Following:
System Integration & Data Consolidation- Lead the integration and harmonization of R&D systems (e.g., Specright, etc.) to create a unified data ecosystem.
- Perform detailed data mapping between legacy and target systems, ensuring alignment of structures, semantics, and governance standards.
- Partner with R&D, Master Data, IT, and business stakeholders to define integration architecture, workflows, and interface requirements.
- Oversee the migration and validation of data, ensuring consistency, completeness, and traceability across systems.
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI and/or Tableau to track integration progress, data quality, and key R&D performance metrics.
- Translate technical and operational data into actionable business insights for R&D leadership and cross‑functional teams.
- Act as a system business owner or subject matter expert for key R&D platforms—helping shape governance, user requirements, and roadmap priorities.
- Document data mappings, transformation logic, and system relationships in alignment with organizational standards.
- Support training, communication, and adoption for new and merged system environments.
Qualifications Include the Following:
Education- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Background or experience in R&D, product development, or scientific data environments preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, system integration, or data migration within R&D or manufacturing contexts.
- Proven experience in data mapping and system harmonization across multiple enterprise platforms.
- Hands‑on experience with Specright or other specification management systems is highly desirable.
- Previous experience serving as a system business owner or functional lead for an enterprise platform preferred.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and modern ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Talend, or similar).
- Expertise in Power BI and/or Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
- Understanding of API integrations, data modeling, and cloud‑based architectures (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Familiarity with metadata management, data governance frameworks, and master data concepts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to bridge technical and business domains.
- Strong analytical mindset and problem‑solving ability in complex data landscapes.
- Comfortable leading discussions with technical teams, vendors, and business leaders alike.
- Adaptable, proactive, and experienced in change‑driven, fast‑paced environments.
