Overall Hospital role — Provides leadership and oversight for hospital operations during off‑shifts, ensuring patient safety, quality care, and service excellence. Manages staffing, responds to emergencies, resolves issues, and supports professional practice and regulatory compliance.

Quality — Ensures the implementation of professional practice standards in alignment with organizational policies and evidence‑based guidelines. Maintains compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, OSHA, Joint Commission, and other relevant accrediting bodies. Responsible for DOH mandatory reporting of applicable events while on duty and oversees performance to ensure adherence to patient safety initiatives and regulatory requirements.

Budget — Identifies and implements ways to reduce and control expenses. Monitors staffing levels in relation to patient census and acuity, and implements workforce adjustments as needed to ensure safe, cost‑effective staffing while maintaining patient care standards.

Service — Serves as a key point of contact for addressing and resolving concerns from patients, staff members, visitors, and physicians in a timely and professional manner. Provides real‑time support and communication to patients and families during dissatisfaction, conflict, or heightened emotion, promoting a culture of service excellence.

Administrative Responsibilities — Performs additional administrative responsibilities as requested to meet the needs of the department/organization, participates on committees, supports Shared Governance, and provides guidance, feedback, and performance documentation for staff.

Communications & Safety — Communicates quality performance concerns and patient care/safety concerns to appropriate personnel, counsels and disciplines assigned personnel, coordinates activity in response to activation of emergency codes, and leads hospital‑wide emergency responses such as mass casualty incidents, IT system downtime, and utility failures.

Professional Practice — Promotes shared decision‑making and professional autonomy through active participation in a professional governance structure, maintains engagement with relevant professional organizations, and supports the organization’s Magnet journey.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Education obtained from an accredited institution
• Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare, or Finance preferred
• Three years of healthcare management experience
• Valid Registered Nursing license or compact license
• Certification in area of specialty preferred
• BLS Certification Required
• ACLS Certification Required
• PALS Certification preferred

• Positive communication skills
• Experience with quality initiatives, action plans, and auditing
• Time management and multitasking skills to facilitate patient movement
• Experience with Joint Commission preparation for disease‑specific certification
• Proven ability to coach teams and facilitate teamwork
• MS Office experience
• Problem solving, decision making, and negotiation skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Able to work with multiple departments
• Superior interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
