JobPurpose and Summary
At CVS Health the Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. Technicians assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately, and patients receive caring service that exceeds expectations. Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices and effective communication.
Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Show empathy and genuine care in patient interactions, offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; solve or elevate patient problems.
- Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law (e.g., putting away medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stock).
- Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset and actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible to meet scheduling and business needs, possibly traveling to other stores.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state and local laws, regulations and CVS policies (controlled substance dispensing, recordkeeping, privacy and security).
- Deliver additional patient health care services (immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntarily staff offsite clinics) where allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status by completing additional licensure and training.
- Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer vaccination questions to Pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Monitor and report adverse reactions per public health requirements.
- Track and document patient vaccine information.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education and licensure/certification.
- If no state minimum age is mandated, be at least 16 years of age.
- If no state minimum educational requirement is mandated, have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in a high school or high school equivalency program.
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between tasks, confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: look for ways to help people in a friendly manner; respond appropriately to patient reactions.
- Communication

use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues; practice active listening. - Mathematical Reasoning: solve math problems to determine item quantities for prescriptions.
- Problem Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action among multiple options.
- Physical Demands: be mobile, lift items, reach overhead, repeat finger movements, lift 10‑20 lbs periodically, and maintain visual acuity for small parts.

- 1-3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
