Position: Environmental Aide I - FT (2:00pm-10:00pm) NMC

Job Title and Employer

Environmental Aide I – Full Time at Atlantic Health, Newton Medical Center. Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (including rotating weekends).

Base pay range

$18.50–$27.58 per hour.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Check EVS cart, ensuring proper chemical supplies are stocked with all bottles properly labeled and dated.
  • Clean and sanitize floor, walls, patient rooms (including bathrooms), public bathrooms and offices.
  • Clean bodily fluids.
  • Ensure paper supplies are stocked sufficiently in all bathrooms.
  • Remove trash, bring soiled linens to the soiled linen room, disperse clean linens to patient areas, and keep linen storage rooms and areas clean.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in personal, patient, and team member safety regarding blood borne pathogens, needle-stick prevention, fire safety, bed tracking and discharge communication, hospital codes, lockout–tagout procedures, hand washing, patient satisfaction, OSHA regulations, and maintaining records and reports necessary for regulatory compliance.
  • Remain on feet for most of the shift.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, strong work ethic, willingness and capability to learn new tasks regularly, get along with co‑workers, and represent the organization positively on a daily basis.
  • Use basic computer and electronic technology for email and application navigation.
Requirements
  • HS diploma or GED equivalent, or will obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Apply elementary math functions and follow detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Work well under time constraints.
  • In performing job duties, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat, stands for long periods, bends, lifts, pushes and pulls up to 50 lb.
Relevant Experience
  • Previous housekeeping experience in a hospital/healthcare environment preferred.
  • Previous floor-care experience preferred.

The Environmental Service Department ensures the cleanest and safest health care environment for all team members, patients and visitors. It is responsible for the cleaning and disinfection of common areas, outpatient areas, procedural areas, and patient rooms, including bathrooms, furniture, carpet/hard surface floors, vents, electronics and patient equipment. The team uses sanitizing processes of the highest quality required by multiple regulatory agencies.
