Position Summary

Safely and reliably transport students between Centenary University’s main campus in Hackettstown, NJ, and the Equestrian Center located at 40 Califon Road, Long Valley, NJ. The driver is responsible for ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of students while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, possess a clean driving record, and successfully pass a background check.

Core Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes

1. Responsibility:
Safe Student Transportation

• Operate a university vehicle safely and responsibly while transporting students to and from designated locations.
• Comply with all applicable traffic laws, university policies, and vehicle safety procedures.
• Conduct basic pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety checks and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.

Outcome:

• Complete 100% of assigned trips safely, following established routes and schedules, with no preventable accidents or traffic violations.
• Report vehicle defects or safety concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor.

2. Responsibility:
Scheduling, Punctuality, and Route Management

• Arrive at designated pickup and drop-off locations on time and follow assigned transportation schedules.
• Communicate promptly with the appropriate university contact regarding delays, route changes, or unexpected circumstances.
• Ensure students are transported to the correct locations and accounted for during each trip.

Outcome:

• Complete at least 95% of scheduled trips on time, barring circumstances beyond the driver's control.
• Maintain accurate trip records and promptly communicate any scheduling disruptions.

3. Responsibility:
Professionalism and Student Service

• Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and university personnel.
• Promote a safe and orderly environment for all passengers and follow university expectations for student transportation.
• Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned vehicle and report any incidents or student safety concerns promptly.

Outcome:

• Maintain a professional and respectful transportation environment, with student concerns and reported incidents communicated promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean and orderly and complete all required transportation logs and incident reports accurately and on time.
