About the RoleIn this role, you will work as a Behaviour Mentor within a welcoming primary school in Hackney, providing targeted support to key children with additional needs. A key part of this Behaviour Mentor position involves working on a one-to-one and small group basis with children who require additional support to regulate their behaviour. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider pastoral team to implement tailored support strategies and ensure pupils can thrive both academically and socially.
You will:
- Provide consistent one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs
- Support children with emotional regulation, behaviour management and social skills development
- Encourage positive behaviour through clear routines, praise and restorative approaches
- Build trusting relationships that promote confidence, independence and resilience
- Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies alongside the SENCO and teaching staff
- Monitor, record and report on pupils' progress and wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals where appropriate
