We are seeking an experienced, passionate and dedicated Primary SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in Hackney, supporting primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about creating an engaging, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where pupils with additional needs can thrive.
The Role
As a Primary SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with ASD. You will work closely with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, families and the wider school team to ensure every pupil receives the appropriate support to achieve their potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to the needs and abilities of pupils with SEND.
Creating a structured, supportive and stimulating classroom environment.
Differentiating the curriculum to ensure all pupils can access learning.
Developing and implementing individualised learning and support strategies.
Monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress.
Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.
Managing behaviour positively and using appropriate strategies to support pupils with complex needs.
Working closely with Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants to provide effective classroom support.
Liaising with therapists, SENCOs and other professionals to support individual pupils.
Building strong and positive relationships with pupils and their families.
Contributing to EHCP reviews, pupil progress meetings and wider school initiatives.
Maintaining high expectations while recognising and celebrating each pupil's individual achievements.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be:
A qualified teacher with relevant primary teaching experience.
Passionate about working with children with special educational needs.
Experienced in, or keen to develop their expertise
