Role Overview We are looking for an Obsolescence Engineer to support the management of component and equipment obsolescence across complex engineering programmes. You'll be responsible for identifying obsolete or at-risk parts, assessing the impact on the programme, and developing robust technical solutions to ensure continued product support and compliance. Working closely with engineering, supply chain, and customer stakeholders, you'll investigate obsolescence issues, assess technical risk and produce evidence-based recommendations in accordance with recognised industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Investigate component and equipment obsolescence issues raised through Change Queries.
• Assess technical, commercial and programme risks associated with obsolete or discontinued parts.
• Develop practical mitigation strategies, including redesign, alternative sourcing and lifetime buys.
• Produce detailed technical solution documents that provide clear engineering justification for proposed solutions.
• Maintain and update the project's Obsolescence Management Plan (OMP).
• Ensure obsolescence activities comply with IEC 62402:2019 and internal engineering processes.
• Work closely with Systems, Design, Support, Procurement and Supply Chain teams to resolve obsolescence challenges.
• Support engineering change and configuration management activities where component changes are required.
• Prioritise workload to meet programme KPIs for high, medium and low priority investigations.
• Present technical recommendations to internal stakeholders and customer approval authorities. Key Skills We're interested in candidates with knowledge in one or more of the following:

• Ideal Background The successful candidate will investigate engineering change requests relating to obsolete components, determine the impact on programme delivery and supportability, and develop technically robust solutions supported by clear engineering evidence.

You'll work with in a structured obsolescence management framework, ensuring investigations are completed within agreed KPIs while supporting long-term availability and maintainability of the product throughout its operational life.
