Hackney, as the internal talent team for the London Borough of Hackney, are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Data Analyst to join our forward-thinking Customer Services, Digital & Data team.
In this key role, you will be working at SFIA Level 4 ('Enable') to bridge the gap between raw data and impactful organisational decision-making. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the Council to translate complex business challenges into actionable insights, build user-friendly dashboards, and champion data-driven service improvements that directly benefit Hackney's residents and local businesses.
Key Responsibilities- Identify, clean, aggregate, and analyse internal and external datasets. Design and automate high-impact visualisations and dashboards that empower leaders to make faster, better-informed decisions.
- Partner across directorates and matrixed teams (e.g., Insight Service, Customer Experience, Digital Products) to understand business processes, key KPIs, and analytics requirements.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and data owners to build trusted, reusable datasets using open-source languages and the Council's analytical data platform.
- Work within an Agile framework to iteratively deliver insights. Promote data sharing, best practices, and innovative analytical tools across the organisation.
- Implement robust data management, privacy, security, and risk controls to maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and accessibility of information assets.
- Provide direct line management for an Associate Analyst, contribute to multidisciplinary teams, and join an out-of-hours user support rota (with additional payment provided).
We are seeking an analytical professional operating at SFIA Level 4 who demonstrates autonomy, influence, and strong technical problem-solving capabilities:
Core Competencies & Technical Skills- Comfortable working under general direction, taking accountability, and planning tasks to hit quality targets.
- Fluent in translating complex technical data into plain, structured narrative stories for both non-technical and technical audiences.
- Adaptable, fast-paced mindset comfortable with iterative design and continuous learning.
- Ideally educated to a Bachelor's degree level and/or holds a relevant professional qualification.
- Equivalent practical experience working at a similar technical level will be fully considered in lieu of formal qualifications.
