Family Support Worker - Migrant Families

3-month contract
£29.01 umbrella per hour (£21.53 PAYE an hour)
36 hours per week

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Family Support Worker to join Hackney Council on an initial 3-month contract.

The Family Support Service delivers statutory and non-statutory assessments and targeted family support to children and families across the borough. The team works closely with Children’s Services and partner agencies to help children remain safely within their families and engage positively with community services.

The role

You will provide practical, evidence-based support to children and families to improve parenting capacity and respond to children’s developmental needs. Interventions are delivered in family homes and community settings, using behavioural, systemic and task-centred approaches to promote positive family interaction, improved environments and better outcomes for children.

Working under the supervision of a Consultant Social Worker or Family Support Team Leader, you will contribute to assessments, deliver interventions and support multi-agency plans for children, young people and their families.

Key responsibilities
Deliver outcome-focused family support interventions
Support statutory and early help assessments
Work directly with children, young people and parents in home and community settings
Apply evidence-based approaches to improve parenting and child behaviour
Work collaboratively with social care, education, health and community services
Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding processes Requirements
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Childcare, Child & Family, or Health & Social Care
Experience working directly with children and families, ideally within a local authority or early help setting
Knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and multi-agency working
Ability to build rapport with families and deliver practical interventions
