Hackney are recruiting for a Support Worker to join Hackney's Welcome Hackney service, supporting refugees, migrants and asylum seekers to build independence, access services and successfully integrate into the community.
This is a rewarding frontline role where you'll provide trauma-informed, person-centred support and make a real difference to vulnerable residents across the borough.
About the Role
You'll play a vital part in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment in Hackney, helping individuals navigate services and build stable, independent lives. The role involves a mix of 1:1 support, advocacy, partnership working and group delivery, using a strengths-based approach throughout.
Key Responsibilities
Provide information, advice and guidance on housing, benefits, health, education and employment
Deliver casework and advocacy, supporting service users to access services and overcome barriers
Create and manage support plans tailored to individual needs
Deliver workshops and group sessions on key topics such as housing, wellbeing and employment
Support integration and independence, including access to housing, work and community support
Work in partnership with internal teams and external organisations to ensure seamless support pathways
Maintain accurate records and ensure safeguarding and confidentiality protocols are followed at all times
Requirements
Experience working with refugees, migrants or vulnerable adults
Background in advice, guidance, casework or advocacy
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and supporting complex needs
Knowledge of safeguarding processes and ability to manage sensitive information
Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse communities
Ability to work independently while building strong relationships with partners
