Responsibilities

Class Teacher (Music)

  • Undertake class‑teaching duties
  • Teach assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction
  • Develop the school curriculum
  • Assess, record and report on the work of pupils
  • Prepare pupils for examinations and assist with their administration
  • Provide advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education
  • Promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils
  • Work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
  • Undertake appropriate and agreed Career Long Professional Development (CLPL)
  • Participate in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review
  • Contribute towards good order and the wider needs of the school

Visiting Specialist of Music

  • Teach a designated subject (Music/Physical Education/Art or Modern Languages) in line with Curriculum for Excellence
  • Teach assigned classes in line with Curriculum for Excellence
  • Prepare lessons and courses
  • Undertake development of the curriculum
  • Contribute to the assessment and reporting on the work of pupils
  • Contribute to the professional development of colleagues
  • Consult with and assist colleagues on subject specific education issues
  • Participate in the organisation of the school to contribute to the school development plan and policies as considered appropriate by the Head Teacher
  • Maintain good order and discipline among pupils and safeguard their health and safety
  • Advise and guide pupils on issues related to their education
  • Work co‑operatively as part of a team
Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications

  • Class Teacher (Music) – Appropriate primary qualification;
    Permanent posts: GTCS Full registration (General);
    Temporary posts: GTCS Full registration (General) / Provisional registration
  • Visiting Specialist of Music – GTCS registration in subject advertised (Music/Physical Education/Art or Modern Languages) or GTCS registered Primary Teacher with a degree in that subject

This post is a regulated role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults. All candidates must become a PVG Scheme member or undergo a PVG Scheme update before a formal offer.
