Responsibilities- Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Support public safety personnel and healthcare providers in patient care.
- Assess patients and provide pre-hospital basic life support based on condition.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during transport in various weather conditions.
- Modify care to meet specific needs of diverse patient populations, communicating effectively at their level.
- Gather essential data, perform physical exams, and report findings to medical control.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely, adhering to laws and policies, and conduct vehicle checks.
- Maintain vehicle and equipment cleanliness and functionality.
- Use communication devices professionally to coordinate dispatch and medical control.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and complete accurate patient care reports.
- Report incidents and maintain equipment and supplies.
- Provide education and ensure compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and certifications.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting patients and equipment, and driving under various conditions.
- Communicate effectively in verbal and written form, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
Required:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Completion of ICS and NIMS courses (ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, IS-800.D).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer platforms such as Microsoft Office or Google Suite.
Preferred:
- Two years of BLS experience, with 911 experience preferred.
- Current EMT certification (NJ, NY, PA, MD, or NREMT-B).
- CPR/BLS certification (AHA or equivalent).
- Valid driver’s license.
- CEVO or EVOC certification within 90 days of hire.
Physically capable of performing tasks such as lifting patients and equipment, driving emergency vehicles, and working in varied environments. Must be able to communicate effectively and perform motor skills safely during transport.
