Salary InformationThe salary range for Hailey, (SUN – Friedman Memorial Airport) is $45,649 to $56,282, or $21.87 to $26.97 per hour, including locality pay of 17.06%.
Sign‑On BonusTSA is offering a sign‑on bonus of up to $10,000 for this location, paid in two installments during the first 12 months of service. The amount may change or be eliminated based on operational needs; any applicable bonus will be communicated at final offer.
Duties- Operate various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and on passengers, preventing objects from being transported onto aircraft.
- Perform searches and screening, which may include physical interaction with passengers (e.g., pat‑downs, search of property), conducting bag searches, and lifting/carrying bags, bins, and property weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Control terminal entry and exit points.
- Interact with the public, give directions, and respond to inquiries.
- Maintain focus and awareness while working in a stressful environment that includes alarms, machinery noise, crowd distractions, time pressure, and disruptive passengers to preserve the ability to identify and locate life‑threatening devices and make effective decisions in both crisis and routine situations.
- Engage in continuous development of critical thinking skills necessary to mitigate actual and potential security threats by identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate situational options and approaches, including risk‑based screening protocols that vary by program requirements.
- Retain and implement knowledge of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures, demonstrate responsible and dependable behavior, and adapt to new information or unexpected obstacles.

Conditions of Employment- Must possess U.S. citizenship or be a U.S. national.
- Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
- Selective Service registration is required.
- Must pass a structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation.
- Subject to post‑employment random drug and/or alcohol testing.
- Must be available to work various shifts and overtime, as needed.
- Must be proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Mandatory travel for training and occasional travel may be required.
- Exposure to potentially lethal devices and dangerous chemicals is inherent to the position.
- Maintain agility to squat and bend.
- Repeatedly lift and manipulate baggage, containers, and other objects weighing approximately 50 lbs.
- Walk up to 3 miles during a shift and stand for prolonged periods (up to 4 hours).
To qualify for the SV‑D pay band (GS‑5/6), you must meet one of the following:
- Experience: At least one year of full‑time work in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X‑ray technician.
- Education: Have a high school diploma, GED, HiSET, or TASC certificate.
Credit for experience is based on a 40‑hour workweek. Part‑time experience is credited proportionally.
Additional Requirements- Occasional travel may be required for New Hire training; up to 6 weeks of travel for training may occur away from the employee’s airport of record.
- Selective Service registration must be verified for male applicants born after 12/31/59.
- Applicants must have no delinquent federal or state taxes or past‑due child support.
