The specialist should possess knowledge and skills necessary to assist individuals, groups, and the district through the application of positive behavior support. The specialist provides one on one and/or small group behavior therapy/services on a daily basis. The specialist coordinates with teachers in conducting Functional Assessments of Behavior and developing Behavior Intervention Plans addressing a range of behaviors, including severe behaviors.
The specialist monitors implementation and progress of Behavior Intervention Plans. The specialist provides classroom and school-wide behavior management supports and strategies in classrooms, during team meetings, and through professional development. The specialist also supports the Special Education Department in conducting evaluations.
