Location

Location: Onsite, Half Moon Bay
Reports To: Customer Service and Operations Manager / Beau Hamada
Position Type: Full‑Time, hourly, non‑exempt, possible future salary/exempt position
Compensation: Starting $29/hour
Schedule: M‑F, 37‑42 hours per week estimated

Role Summary

The Ranch Manager is the heartbeat of the ranch, responsible for overseeing daily logistics, employee coordination, client communication, and facility management. This role ensures smooth execution of transportation, pet care services, and team development while fostering a safe, efficient, and positive work environment. The Ranch Manager serves as the primary onsite contact for Wranglers and supports both strategic and hands‑on responsibilities.

This position requires flexibility and problem‑solving skills. Other special projects or duties may be assigned.

Core Responsibilities Team Leadership & Employee Support
  • Monitor employee issues via Slack and assist Beau in resolution
  • Serve as the day‑to‑day onsite go‑to for Wranglers
  • Manage seating charts and daily zone placements
  • Conduct daily 3–5 minute huddles and dog roll calls with incident tracking
  • Plan and execute team celebrations and morale‑building activities
  • Stand in for employee breaks when needed
  • Act as backup for Beau when she is offsite or out
  • Notify Vicki and Beau about any client concerns or questions
  • Act as the Safety Monitor, working closely with Beau
  • Provide input and collaborate with Beau on performance management and employee issues
Training & Onboarding
  • Develop and manage new hire training schedules
  • Conduct in‑car and onsite training, check‑ins, and coaching for new hires
  • Create and maintain SOPs for ranch operations, driving, pickup/dropoff procedures
  • Give tech demos to new hires
  • Add new hires to internal systems (Time to Pet, Slack, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain team training curriculum (Dog Gurus, pet CPR, ongoing education)
Transportation & Route Management
  • Plan and manage daily driving routes and schedules
  • Monitor employee timing and route efficiency
  • Act as backup driver #2 when the primary ranch hand is unavailable
  • Perform daily van inspections (interior and exterior), noting safety and damage
Pet Services and Boarding Coordination
  • Manage pet sitting scheduling, calendar, and logistics
  • Field pet sitting requests and coordinate with clients
  • Update Vicki’s calendar with pet sitting appointments
  • Communicate employee status updates to clients in collaboration with Beau and onsite shift leads
  • Manage onsite new dog trial days and assessments
  • Work with offsite financial consultant and coordinate pet sitting invoices
Facility & Vendor Oversight
  • Coordinate mowing and repairs with Carlos and Miguel
  • Contact and manage portapotties
  • Contact and manage Cintas services
  • Ensure ranch cleanliness, safety, and functionality
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Animal Certifications as appropriate
  • On the job training
Knowledge
  • Customer and Personal Service – Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • K9 Education and Training – Knowledge about dog enrichment trends and activities.
  • Public and Pet Safety and Security – Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective safety protocols for people and dogs.
  • Animal Psychology – Understanding of dog motivations, triggers and mental stimulation.
Skills Basic Skills
  • Active Learning – Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making.
