Lead corporate accounting and financial reporting with Emera Energy in Halifax, using Excel, analytical skills, and accounting expertise.
This Senior Corporate Accountant supports Emera Energy’s Corporate Finance group in a 14 month term. Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the role covers journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, forecasts, regulatory reports, and tax filings. It also supports SOX controls and audit activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare monthly journal entries and monitor the general ledger
- Complete working papers, audit files, reconciliations, and analysis
- Prepare financial statements and analyze financial results
- Support SOX controls, audits, forecasts, budgets, and regulatory reporting
- Collaborate across Emera departments on financial information and analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline
- Completed accounting designation, including CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA
- Experience with financial reporting systems and Excel
- Strong quantitative, analytical, organizational, and detail-oriented skills
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables independently under tight deadlines
