Position: Safety Administrator Regional Municipality)

Ocean Contractors Limited has been in the asphalt and ready‑mix concrete business since 1974. We pride ourselves on having ‘Built on Quality’ products, services and employees. Ocean is currently seeking applications for Safety Administrator to join our team.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Assisting the Safety Manager with daily health and safety tasks
  • Conducting jobsite visits throughout HRM
  • Completing workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
  • Monitoring compliance with company safety policies, client requirements and provincial regulations
  • Performing respirator fit testing
  • Conducting periodic PPE and equipment inspections
  • Working with employees and supervisors to develop safe work practices and safe job procedures
  • Assisting with corrective action follow‑ups and incident prevention initiatives
  • Managing subcontractor safety documentation and compliance requirements
  • Completing online subcontractor pre‑qualifications through platforms such as Comply Works, ISNetworld, Contractor Check and eRail Safe
  • Updating safety data sheets (SDS), equipment manuals, procedures and related documentation
  • Maintaining safety management software (Site Docs) and internal safety databases
  • Assisting with employee orientations, toolbox talks, JOHSC meetings and safety training sessions
  • Coordinating and tracking employee safety certifications and training records
  • Supporting the development and implementation of company safety programs and initiatives
  • Assisting with COR/SECOR requirements and audit preparation
  • Processing WCB claims and assisting with return‑to‑work and modified/light duty coordination
  • Communicating professionally with employees, supervisors and subcontractors regarding safety matters
  • Promoting a positive safety culture throughout the organization
  • Other related duties as required
What We’re Looking For:
  • Health and Safety diploma, certificate or related education
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Strong computer, organisational and administrative skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Professional communication skills when interacting with employees, supervisors, subcontractors and clients
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment
  • Experience in the construction industry considered an asset
  • Experience with safety management software such as Site Docs considered an asset
