Position: Dental Assistant at IWK Health
Become a vital part of the Dental Clinic team at IWK Health in Halifax. This full-time Dental Assistant role focuses on providing exceptional care for special-needs and medically compromised patients, blending hands-on assistance with effective infection control practices.

Reporting to the Dental Clinic, you will support Dentists in both surgery and patient exams. This role requires specialized knowledge and recent experience in Pediatric Dentistry to ensure optimal care for our diverse patient population. Your duties include preparing treatment areas, performing dental procedures, and assisting in radiographic duties while adhering to clinic guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms for dental procedures

• Assist Dentists during surgery and patient treatment

• Ensure proper infection control and equipment maintenance

• Obtain medical histories and document patient interactions

• Provide health promotion and oral health education

Requirements:

• Graduate of a recognized Dental Assistant Course

• Registration with the provincial Dental Board Nova Scotia

• Recent experience in Pediatric Dentistry

• Completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) program

• Competency in additional languages is an asset
