About the opportunity

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics, Dalhousie University, and the Canadian Center for Vaccinology (CCfV) is seeking applications to fill a full-time FTE) position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The individual will complement a strong academic group in the Division of Infectious Diseases.

The successful candidate will be a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist who will serve as a consultant in pediatric infectious diseases based at IWK Health, the tertiary care pediatric and women’s hospital for the Maritime provinces, teach within Dalhousie University medical school and postgraduate training programs, and will be expected to develop a research program in clinical trials of vaccines. The individual must have demonstrated their potential to conduct independent research and collaborate with other investigators.

Up to 70% of the position will be designated for research with teaching, other academic activity, and clinical service in the remaining time. Academic appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The position will be based at CCfV’s facilities. CCfV brings together an interdisciplinary team of researchers, clinician scientists, and trainees engaged in vaccine discovery, evaluation, and health policy and translation. The Center provides a supportive environment in which to develop a dynamic research program. CCfV is a core member of the Dalhousie Medical School-based Inflammation, Immunity and Infectious Diseases (I3V) research initiative.

Academic qualifications include an MD degree or equivalent and specialty training in pediatrics and infectious diseases. Eligibility for medical licensure in Nova Scotia is essential.
