Guysborough Memorial Hospital (GMH) is seeking two full-time, full-scope family physicians to work in the facility's family practice clinic, Level 4 Emergency Dept, inpatient, and adjacent long term care facility. Guysborough Memorial Hospital (GMH) serves the health care needs of the residents of Guysborough County. Located in Guysborough, the area enjoys outstanding healthcare through the recently expanded GMH and its talented team of healthcare professionals.

The physicians of the 10-bed facility and Emergency Dept. are supported by specialists tha’s Regional Hospital (45min away) and other healthcare facilities in the province. GMH also has a partnership with the Guysborough Youth Health Center and is adjacent to a 50-bed long-term care facility (Milford Haven Home for Special Care).

Responsibilities

GMH provides inpatient and outpatient care as well as several visiting clinics:

ophthalmology clinic

pediatric clinic

surgery consultation

well men/women programs

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures;

Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention

Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners

Act as a patient’s advocate

Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations

Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
