Lecturer/Assistant Professor - Academic Neurologist
Position Overview
The Division of Neurology, Dept. of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, in partnership with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, seeks a full‑time Academic Neurologist (Clinician Investigator) at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2026.
Applicants will advance research in movement disorders, collaborate with a high‑performing team, and provide clinical care in inpatient and outpatient settings while pursuing scholarly activities.
Responsibilities- Conduct shared general neurology call and inpatient consultation services.
- Provide outpatient clinical care and manage related clinical responsibilities.
- Advance a scholarly research agenda in movement disorders (approx. 50% of time).
- Teach medical students and residents (approx. 10% of time).
- Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives and serve key stakeholders.
- MD degree.
- Certified or eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Neurology.
- Licensure or eligibility to practice in Ontario.
- Advanced training in movement disorders (ideally a fellowship at a high‑volume surgical referral site).
- Experience with neuromodulation techniques, including deep brain stimulation, ablative therapies, motor‑cortex stimulation, and MRI‑guided focused ultrasound.
- Proficiency in pre‑operative assessment, post‑operative follow‑up, and device programming for movement‑disorder patients.
Estimated remuneration $200,000‑$400,000 per year (fee‑for‑service with salary support), commensurate with rank, qualifications, and experience.
Eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association, providing clinical billing and benefits—including group medical, dental, and life insurance coverage.
