Job Summary &

Key Responsibilities

The Part-Time Academic in Organic Chemistry is responsible for all aspects of summer CHEM
2401 (Introductory Organic Chemistry: Structure, Stereochemistry, Concepts of Reactions and Mechanisms) and summer CHEM
2402 (Introductory Organic Chemistry: Reactivity of Functional Groups and Spectroscopy), including preparation of the class syllabi, preparation of course materials, lecturing to students, holding office hours, preparation and grading of student quizzes, midterms and the final examinations, submitting final marks to the Registrar, answering student inquiries.

This position reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Science through the Chair of the Department of Chemistry.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

The positions require a postgraduate degree (preferably a PhD) in Organic Chemistry (or a closely related subject). Experience teaching second-year Organic Chemistry at the university level is required. The preferred applicant must have proven experience working independently and be well versed in the course content for second-year Organic Chemistry at the university level. Experience using Brightspace is required.

Salary Range/Pay Rate

Per CUPE Collective Agreement
