Status: Full-Time (37.5 hours / week)

Program Overview

The CSEC Prevention & Education Coordinator is responsible for leading the coordination of education and knowledge mobilization regarding commercial sexual exploitation of children and youth. The role will involve supporting with comprehensive curriculum development. This role ensures that prevention education is accessible, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and aligned with the strategic directions of YWCA Halifax.

Prevention Education & Curriculum Development
  • Develop asynchronous online training modules related to HT/CSEC prevention
  • Education and Training for the Joint Regional Transportation Agency Project
  • Design and pilot new prevention education modules for diverse audiences
  • Update and refine curriculum to ensure evidence-informed and culturally responsive practice
  • Engage first‑person voices and community consultation in the creation and delivery of education
Community Training & Sector Engagement
  • Deliver in‑person and virtual community training sessions
  • Lead targeted sector‑specific training initiatives
  • Coordinate logistics, outreach and registration for community training
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement
  • Attend the TESS core, regional, and subcommittees
  • Engage in local advisory, interagency and advocacy groups as a representative of the YWCA
Community Outreach & Prevention Programming
  • Conduct outreach to increase awareness of CSEC and available YWCA resources
  • Coordinate prevention‑based group programming for youth
  • Collaborate with other relevant YWCA programs
Program Administration
  • Develop work plans for areas of responsibility, achieving goals/objectives/outcomes, and reporting on results in relation to work plans.
  • Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the YWCA, and ensure the development and implementation of appropriate operational/program procedures for designated projects and programs for approval by Director.
  • Ensure that program activities comply with all relevant legislation and insurance coverage.
  • Maintain appropriate program record‑keeping in accordance with YWCA policies and procedures, and confidentiality/privacy policies.
  • Provide regular program reports within a specific reporting schedule using provided templates.
  • Identify, report on, and evaluate the risks associated with the program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks.
  • Be responsible for ensuring narrative reports to funders are delivered accurately, appropriately and within deadlines.
  • Ensure the planning of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission, goals, strategic directions, and guiding principles of the YWCA.
