Description
The Practicum Coordinator is responsible for coordinating student practicum placements within the Early Childhood Education program. This role serves as the primary liaison between students, practicum host sites, faculty, and community partners to secure, confirm, and monitor quality practicum experiences that align with program outcomes and regulatory requirements. The Practicum Coordinator ensures placements are completed efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with institutional policies and timelines.
Please note that this role will turn into a shared Practicum‑Coordinator and Instructor Role, where 20 hours of this position are dedicated to placement coordination and 16 hours are dedicated to classroom instruction with the lead instructor of the program, and 4 hours for any additional tasks. This job will first start out as 20 hours/week focusing on the Practicum‑Coordinator responsibilities.
From September 1, it will transition to the full‑time role as co‑ordinator and instructor.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate and assign student practicum placements with licensed childcare centres, schools, and community partners.
Build and maintain strong relationships with practicum host sites.
Track student eligibility requirements, documentation, and practicum records.
Teach and assess ECE courses using inclusive, student‑centered instructional practices.
Monitor student progress and provide academic advising and performance feedback.
Maintain attendance, grades, and student records.
Support student orientations, graduations, and day‑to‑day program operations.
Ensure compliance with Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development regulations, Private Career Colleges Division requirements, and institutional quality standards.
Contribute to curriculum updates and continuous program improvement.

Qualifications
Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Level 2 or
3) Classification
ECE Early Learning classroom experience: 4 years
English
Experience and knowledge
Experience in Office Administration, or related field
Experience coordinating schedules, placements, or partnerships
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email communication, spreadsheets, and database management
Knowledge of professionalism and confidentiality within educational settings
Strong organizational, communication, and relationship‑building skills
Previous experience with practicum coordination and/or advisement
Train the Trainer Certification/Adult Education Certificate (Desirable)
Previous Career College or Post‑Secondary experience (Desirable)
