The  Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education  is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

WORK TERM:

Casual on-call basis - 10 Month (September to June)

LOCATION:

Various schools/locations throughout the Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education.

RATE OF PAY: $20.97 per hour

Minimum

Required Qualifications

Grade 12 education or acceptable equivalent in experience and training.

Demonstrated ability to do work as required in the posted positions, and the ability to work with others and provide assistance.

Reliable and conscientious.

Acceptable record of attendance (for those recently employed in a full-time job).

General knowledge of cleaning equipment and materials.

Experience as a Cleaner with the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board or with other commercial/public institutions, or with a contractor.

Ability to adequately secure a building using locks, alarm systems, and other building devices designed for security.

Acceptable Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks

JOB DESCRIPTION
ROLE:  The cleaning of the school building and facilities to a sanitary, safe, and attractive level.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clean, on a daily or as scheduled basis, all assigned areas of the school in accordance with established practices and standards.

Obtain and maintain sufficient supplies on hand to carry out duties and responsibilities.

Report any breakdowns, accidents, damage or vandalism to the appropriate supervisor.

Secure all doors and windows whenever the building is vacated and activate security system if last person to vacate building.

Perform floor care duties, such as stripping, sealing, waxing, burnishing, etc.

Perform duties in compliance with school, Operations Department, and Board policies and procedures including Occupational Health, Safety, work routines, WHMIS, and evacuation plans and the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia.
