As an Educational Deaf Interpreter, you will provide essential ASL support and modelling for Deaf signing students in various educational settings. Collaborating closely with teachers and educational specialists, this role prioritizes cultural awareness while smoothening the student's transition into interpreting. Your lived experience as a Deaf individual enriches our inclusive culture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide ASL instruction for Deaf students in classrooms
• Support learning about differing home and school cultures
• Collaborate with educational teams on student support
• Assist in the transition to an Educational Interpreter
• Facilitate inclusive learning with minimal supervision
Requirements:
• Lived experience as a Deaf or hard of hearing individual
• Native Fluency in ASL and functional English literacy
• Experience working with children and youth
• Ability to obtain ASLPI Rating from SLIC
• Familiarity with CASLI standards
