Learning Design and Technologies Specialist The Opportunity

The Learning Design and Technology Specialist within the Centre for Teaching and Learning plays a crucial role in academic success and development within the College. They are responsible for supporting faculty in learning design, specializing in educational technologies, ensuring programs meet the highest quality standards, leading special projects and dedicated liaison areas, developing and facilitating ongoing training opportunities, and partnering with faculty to provide a transformative learning experience to students.

The Learning Design and Technology Specialist also plays a key support role in the College’s development of strategic direction for educational technologies and learning design.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • One‑on‑one and group supports to faculty, admin, and/or academic support staff, in‑person, virtual, and HyFlex.
  • Develop and facilitate quality training, resources, and guidance for educational technologies, learning design, universal design for learning, open education resources (OERs), teaching and learning strategies, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, etc.
  • Advising, selecting, supporting the implementation and maintenance of educational technology solutions.
  • Administrate and troubleshoot technologies in collaboration with ITS.
  • Development and facilitation of various faculty training opportunities, such as teaching and learning days and workshops.
  • Support faculty with development and delivery of courses in various delivery modes, such online and HyFlex.
  • Maintain the CTL’s Educational Technology collection.
  • Providing training, guidance, and feedback to faculty and SMEs throughout the curriculum and program development process.
  • Supporting program development and quality assurance process.
  • Continuous professional development to maintain currency in one’s discipline.
  • Leading special projects and serving as the liaison for assigned areas and goals (e.g., Indigenization of Curriculum, Artificial Intelligence, etc.) under the CTL’s Framework.
  • Must comply with Human Rights Legislation as well as college policies and procedures and collective agreement obligations regarding equity, inclusion and diversity.
  • Other duties as required/directed by the Director.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a related discipline.
  • Experienced individuals with relevant bachelor's degrees and / or professional designation may be considered.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence and a passion for student success.
  • Demonstrated excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to engage in research and support faculty.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with community stakeholders and supporting college‑wide initiatives.
  • Strong communication and presentation, Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) Facilitator qualifications considered an asset.
  • Commitment to fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in the learning environment.
