In this position, you will provide essential ASL linguistic support to Deaf signing students, aiding their understanding of both classroom and home cultures. As part of a dedicated educational team, your responsibilities include supporting the transition from an Educational Deaf Interpreter role to a more generalized Educational Interpreter. Your unique perspective as a Deaf individual will empower you to make a meaningful difference.
Key Responsibilities:
• Model ASL in educational settings for Deaf students
• Help students navigate cultural differences in learning
• Work in tandem with classroom teachers and specialists
• Support educational transitions as needed
• Maintain collaboration within a virtual environment
Requirements:
• Lived experience as a Deaf individual considered essential
• Demonstrable proficiency in ASL and literacy in English
• Relevant experience with youth and children
• Capability to achieve ASLPI Rating from SLIC
• Understanding of CASLI criteria and standards
