Join APSEA as an Educational Deaf Interpreter in Halifax and support Deaf learners in their early educational journey! You will provide vital ASL instruction and model Deaf culture in classroom environments.
This full-time, 12-month term position requires a native ASL signer with experience in early childhood education or related fields. You will work closely with educational teams to enhance learners’ understanding and facilitate cultural transitions. Contribute to a diverse and inclusive educational atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
• Instruction in ASL across early learning venues
• Guidance in cultural understanding between home and school
• Work alongside educators and ASL specialists
• Facilitate transitions to Educational Interpreters
Requirements:
• Must be a signing Deaf individual
• Native ASL fluency is essential
• Prior experience with children and youth
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Fulfill CASLI standards for ASL services
