The School of Architecture at Dalhousie University invites applications for a Part-Time Academic Instructor position in the Master of Architecture degree program. The is a professional two-year graduate Architecture degree. Students complete a Pre-Professional Bachelor degree before enrolment.

The Instructor will teach a first-year, 6-credit advanced graduate design studio and is responsible for studio development, lectures, critiques, assessment, and grading. Graduate design studios explore complex design problems through critical inquiry, iterative development, and integrated design processes. Students develop comprehensive architectural proposals that synthesize conceptual, spatial, technical, environmental, and material considerations while engaging contemporary issues in architecture and the built environment.

Graduate studios are topics-based and can be developed in the instructor’s research and/or practice area-of-expertise. Graduate studios consist of up to fifteen students and meet two times each week for hours. The Fall Term is a 14-week term.

This studio examines the infrastructure of the metropolis and its influence on urban form and development. Topics may include systems for transportation, energy use, water distribution, civic institutions, spaces of social exchange, and ecology. Students develop urban infrastructure propositions with reference to innovative urban projects worldwide.

Prior instruction in subject area at graduate level or equivalent
