About the opportunity

Reporting directly to the President, the Acting Provost will provide leadership and strategic direction for academic programs, policies, and initiatives at Dalhousie University. The Acting Provost will serve in the role until we are able to do a full and comprehensive search for a new Provost.

The Acting Provost will support the university to develop, implement, and promote constructive change and foster collaboration across all Faculties and departments and oversee the creation and allocation of the university’s budget, making strategic investments that support university priorities. The Acting Provost will also be responsible for advancing a culture of excellence, innovation, inclusivity, and belonging in teaching, research, and service and supporting faculty, staff, and students in their pursuit of academic and professional success.

This is an academic administrative appointment, open to current Dalhousie faculty members only. The ideal candidate will be a respected academic and a supportive and collaborative strategic leader. A skilled and highly experienced academic administrator, applicants should be familiar with leading the allocation of financial resources and administrative processes and working with governing bodies in universities in an effective, clear, accountable, and positive manner.

The ideal candidate will be capable of advancing critical priorities that lead to impact and leading through change with a people-focused approach.
