Position: Part-Time Academic (PHYC 2800: Climate Change) - Fall 2026
Job Summary &

Key Responsibilities

Duties include full responsibility for delivery and administration of teaching duties (lecture prep and delivery according to course syllabus; exam prep, delivery, and marking; TA supervision, etc.) for PHYC 2800 – Climate Change (Fall 2026).

The workings of the Earth’s climate system are examined and then applied to help understand contemporary climate change. The role of numerical climate models is discussed with the aim of interpreting climate change projections for the coming decades. The impacts of climate change are studied with a focus on the various mitigation and adaptation strategies needed.

Lectures:
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays: 10:30am to 11:30am

Reasonable office hours should be available to students.

Position reports to the Chair of the Department of Physics & Atmospheric Science.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

Candidates must have an advanced degree in Physics (MSc or PhD).

Critical thinking skills and relevant teaching experience at the University level is required, as well as excellent computing, organization, and written communication skills.

Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, foster student learning, work collaboratively with diverse faculty and students, and contribute to an inclusive academic environment are required.

Salary Range/Pay Rate

As per CUPE Collective Agreement.
