Key Responsibilities

PSYO 2220 (Adult Psychopathology) provides an introduction to adult psychopathology, including diagnostic criteria and evidence on the etiology and treatment of major mental health disorders.

The Part-Time Academic will be responsible for teaching a 2000-level lecture course, Adult Psychopathology (PSYO The class is being offered in an online, asynchronous format, with course content and assessment delivered through Dalhousie’s Brightspace learning management system. The anticipated enrolment is 250 students.

Responsibilities of the successful applicant will include:

Developing 12 weeks of content, including online lectures, readings, and assessments

Preparation and administration of online assessments assignments; quizzes/exams)

Grading assessments and providing timely feedback to students.

Offering approximately 2 hours per week for student consultation; responding to student emails in a timely manner.

Providing course content syllabus, notes, grades) on Brightspace, Dalhousie’s learning management system.

Maintaining a record of all student grades (including grades for each assessment component) in Brightspace, and ensuring timely submission of final letter grades to the registrar’s office.

Teaching occasionally requires work after the formal end point of a course (for example, in cases where a student has extenuating circumstances or academic accommodations that require a deferred final exam). If such cases arise, the Part-Time Academic must facilitate tying up loose ends, either by completing the work themselves, or by providing the necessary materials for the department to complete the work on their behalf answer keys;

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

Applicants must have a graduate degree in Psychology or a closely related discipline, demonstrated teaching effectiveness, and research or teaching experience related to psychopathology or clinical psychology.

Previous experience with Dalhousie’s learning management system, Brightspace, is considered an asset.
