Part-Time Academic; ARCH Material Investigation - Fall

The School of Architecture at Dalhousie University invites applications for a Part-Time Academic Instructor position in the Master of Architecture degree program. The is a professional two-year graduate Architecture degree. Students complete a Pre-Professional Bachelor degree before enrolment.

The Instructor will teach a first-year 3-credit architecture elective seminar. Graduate seminars are topics-based and can be developed in the instructor’s research and/or practice area-of-expertise. Graduate elective courses consist of up to approximately twenty students and meet one time each week for 3 hours. The Fall Term is a 14-week term. Graduate elective courses may be taught remotely. In-person is preferred.

This course uses a controlled workshop environment to examine characteristics of a material metal, ceramic, glass) and methods for forming and finishing. Using principles of material science, it considers the harvesting or processing of raw material, the testing of structural capacity and environmental behaviour, and applications in design.
