Senior Surveyor – Responsibilities
The Senior Surveyor will work on a 4 to 6 week rotation supporting long‑term international and local projects in Paradise, NL.
- Supervising checking and testing of survey equipment and software prior to project
- Coordinating mobilization of survey equipment and software on vessels
- Ensuring full understanding of data flow from calibration at project mobilization through logging and quality control of all data
- Developing project procedures and assisting in project preparation
- Assisting with management of day‑to‑day field operations and ensuring fulfilment of contractual requirements regarding recording, quality, and accuracy of field data
- Performing fieldwork efficiently while meeting client and DOF Subsea requirements
- Ensuring all survey equipment is calibrated and calibration procedures complied with, including maintaining up‑to‑date documentation
- Ensuring data collection conforms to good survey practice and approved procedures, monitoring real‑time displays and examining calibration and data plots/charts/maps
- Managing project work scope and adhering to contractual aspects offshore
- Providing guidance and supervising the offshore survey team
- Ensuring personnel meet company requirements for operational capability, competence, health, and safety
- Communicating daily with the Party Chief
- Liaising with client representatives and senior vessel/ROV crew
- Delegating responsibilities in accordance with company procedures where appropriate
- Completing daily/end‑of‑project reporting
- Responsible for offshore QHSE and implementing/maintaining survey standards throughout operations
- Backing up and submitting all data to the Project Manager/Onshore team in agreed DOF Subsea formats upon project completion
- Liaising with the Party Chief to understand commercial impact of offshore decisions
- Post‑secondary education in Hydrographic Survey, Geomatics, or a related discipline (experience may compensate for lack of formal competency)
- At least 5 years of experience as a Surveyor
- Key experience in senior surveyor duties
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document control systems
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and written skills
- Leadership and communication skills
